LELBA un LELBP Atšķirība un identitāte: Luterāņu baznīca un latviešu identitāte Fritz Traugott Kristbergs, B.A., M.A., M.Div., D.Min. (Prin.) Referāts lasīts Latvijas Valsts Archīva un PBLA konferencē: „Trimda, kultūra, nacionāla identitāte”, 2004. gada 30. septembris – 2. oktobris, Rīgā, Rīgas Latviešu Biedrībā Latviešu luterāņu baznīca ir bijusi nozīmīga instance latviešu tautas pašapziņas veidošanā. Šis process vēsturē parādījās kā diferencēšana starp raksturīgu latviešu baznīcu un tās vācu izcelsmi. Diferenciācija starp latviešu un vācu baznīcu pieauga līdztekus ar diferenciācijas samazinājumu starp latviešu baznīcu un latviešu tautu. Pēc 2. Pasaules Kara, trimdas laikmetā, latviešu luterāņu baznīca turpināja savu vadošo lomu tautas kopības un identitātes uzturēšanā. Šajā kontekstā, baznīcas darbība tautā centās minimalizēt diferenciāciju (atšķirības) trimdas diasporā izkaisītā latviešu tautas vidē un arī uzturēt augstu diferenciācijas līmeni starp latviešiem un mītnes zemes dominanto kultûru. Baznīcas paštēls kā - tēvzeme, māja, un cietoksnis, veicināja diferenciācijas dinamiku. 1 Trimdas laikā notika nozīmīgas maiņas latviešu tautā un baznīcā. Garīdznieku aprindās notika strauja diferenciācija vecumā, dzimumā, izglītībā un kultûrā. Pārmaiņa no vīriešu dominētas uz sieviešu dominētu garīdzniecību prasījās pēc jauna garīdzniecības un baznīcas tēla. Asimilācijas process kas samazinājis diferenciāciju starp latviešu trimdiniekiem un mītnes zemes sabiedrību un kultûru ir arī palielinājis diferenciāciju starp daþādo zemju kulturās dzīvojošiem latviešiem. Dr. Fritz Traugott Kristbergs, “Differentiation and Identity: To wards an Understanding of Ethnic Ministry” (D.Min. dissertation, Princeton Theological Seminary, 1996), chapter 2 The history of the Lutheran church in Latvia may be seen as a process of differentiation from the image of the dominantly Germanic church of the Reformation. This process culminated in the formation of the Latvian Lutheran church of independent Latvia. The increasing separation of the Lutheran church from its German antecedents corresponded to the increased integration of the Latvian Lutheran church with the emergence of a distinct Latvian consciousness and identity. During the exile after the Second World War the church became an even greater factor in defining and maintaining Latvian cultural identity. The increasing degree of differentiation between the German Lutheran church and the evolving Latvian Lutheran church can be seen in several areas of church and cultural life. Translation of the Bible in Latvian and the publication of Latvian language hymnals, prayer books and sermon collections were major factors in the development of both a separate Latvian Lutheran church and a Latvian national consciousness. Systems differentiation occurred in the democratization of church life, specifically in the developing rights of parishes in relation to the German barons and in the separation of administrative authority between the German and Latvian churches. The evolution of a Latvian Lutheran church may be characterized by its increasingly high degree of differentiation between Germanic cultural and ecclesiastical influences and the decreasing level of differentiation between the Latvian Lutheran church and the Latvian nation. Churches-on-the-Hill Foodbank Churches-on-the-Hill Food Bank is an emergency food program run by volunteers and operated under the auspices of the Daily Bread Food Bank. The program supplies food to individuals and families who have housing but whose income is not enough to make ends meet. There continues to be a constant need for canned goods such as soup, canned fruit, tins of meat, beans, pasta sauce. Thank you also to those who are leaving non-perishable food items – it helps to keep the shelves stocked. The Churches-on-the-Hill Food Bank depends on your continued support and has an ongoing need for non-perishable food items. These may be left in the baskets at the back of the church. We decorated our strollers and wagons. As the weather was uncooperative, we had an indoor walkathon, led by Rev. Dr. A. Gaide. Proceeds from the lunch, which was once again prepared by the Sunday School parents and teachers, went to this wonderful project. Donation forms were also available. Par Draudzi Draudzes vēsture / History Draudzes Dibināšana Dievnama Celšana Baznīcas ērģeles Garīgais darbs Draudzes padome Dāmu komitejas vēsture Svetdienas Skola Jaunatnes pulciņš Palīdzības fonds / Aprūpes darbs Koris un vokālais ansamblis Saulaines vēsture Jaunatnes Pulciņš //Neviens lai nenicina tavu jaunumu, bet topi tu par paraugu ticīgajiem vārdos un dzīvē, mīlestībā, ticībā un šķīstībā. 1 vēst. Tim. 4:12// Lai pēc svētdienas skolas beigšanas, kas notiek ap 13 gadu vecumu, jauniešiem dotu iespēju pulcēties un gūt audzināšanu kristīgā dzīves ziņā, 1962. gada rudenī skolotāja Jāņa Ozola vadībā darbību sāka jaunatnes pulciņš. Pirmajā gadā tanī bija 38 jaunieši vecumā no 13 līdz 16 gadiem. Parasti jaunieši nodarbībās piedalās līdz iesvētības mācībai. Dalībnieku skaitam pieaugot, paidagoģisku un psīcholoģisku apsvērumu dēļ 1965. gada rudenī jaunatnes pulciņu sadalīja divi grupās: jaunākā grupā 13 un 14 gadus vecos, bet vecākajā grupā, sākot ar 15 gadiem. Jaunākās grupas vadību uzņēmās Tonija Krūka, bet vecāko grupu turpināja vadīt Jānis Ozols. Kad 1972. gada rudenī T. Krūka darba slodzes dēļ pārtrauca darbu ar jaunāko grupu, tās vadību pārņēma agrākie pulciņa dalībnieki Inese Cernavska, Andris Černavskis, Pēteris Zvaigzne un Raimonds Rūtītis, kas šim uzdevumam jau bija sagatavojušies kristīgās jaunatnes kursos. Vēlākos gados viņiem pievienojās Sandra Kurse, Maija Baruša, Vilnis Jerva, Rasma Caune, Ēriks Mikelšteins, Zaiga Pērkone, Inta Malēja, Mārīte Štengele un Visvaldis Freimanis. Kad 1976. gada rudenī Jānis Ozols uzņēmās Toronto latviešu sestdienas skolas pārziņa pienākumus, vecākās grupas vadību pārņēma Edgars Liepiņš. Kopš 1981. gada jaunatnes grupas vadījuši Inta Malēja, Ilze Villere, Mārtiņš Irbe un Sandra Kurse-Freimane. Tad jaunatnes grupas vadīja mācītājs F. T. Kristbergs un Edīte Linča (Lynch). Kopš 1995. gada jaunatnes pulciņu vada Māris Lūsis. Tagad dalībnieku skaits arī jaunatnes pulciņā ir stipri sarucis. Grupas nodarbībām pulcējās pārmaiņus ik pārsvētdienas vienu stundu pirms dievkalpojuma. Pēc tam viņi piedalījās dievkalpojumā. Nodarbību programa tika pieskaņota dalībnieku vecumam. Jaunieši vēlas pārrunāt un rast atbildes uz dažādām modernās dzīves parādībām un sadzīves prob-lēmām. Pa posmam nodarbībām bija kāds virstēmats, piemēram, vingrināsimies ticībā! Tika izcelta reliģijas lielā nozīme izcilu personību dzīvē visos laikos. Jauniešiem ir bijusi iespēja arī salīdzināt dažādās pasaules reliģijas. Pēc tādiem salīdzinajumiem jaunieši vairāk izjūt un pārdzīvo Kristus mācības brīnumaino spēku un skaistumu. Ansamblis St. John’s Church Vocal Ensemble Music at St. John’s It's hard to believe that the Vocal Ensemble of our congregation is entering its 38th season making music to the glory of God and the enjoyment of our members. These have been very rewarding years for the group. We have performed in various cities and countries over the years, both a Capella, or with string ensembles, or with the Rev. Dr. Anita Gaide accompanying us on the organ/piano. The vocal ensemble is a very important part of the spiritual life of our congregation. Thanks to our exceptional Director of Music Brigita Alks, we perform a broad range of repertoire in several different languages and styles. We are most grateful to Brigita for making those long journeys from Buffalo every week to teach us and make our lives that much richer. Ansambļa diriģente ir Brigita Alks. Mūsu sastāvā ir 22 dziedātāji un ērģelniece Dr. Anita Gaide. Dziedātāju skaitā ir Juris Ķeniņš, kas palīdz ar dziesmu aranžējumiem, īpaši stīgu ansambļa pavadījumiem. Mēģinājumi notiekās otrdienas vakaros, no 7 līdz 9. Gaidam papildus spēkus katrā balsī vienmēr. The vocal ensemble rehearses every Tuesday from 7 pm to 9 pm from September to June and also meets several times over the summer months for rehearsals.
